Job Summary
Cook – Casual Part-Time at Trillium Court (Extendicare, Kincardine, ON): Prepare meals and nourishments according to prescribed diets, review regular and therapeutic menus, set up equipment and supplies for food preparation, and ensure food safety and quality. Direct Dietary Aides in basic preparation and serving activities at mealtimes and assume routine departmental operations in the Dietary Manager’s absence. Requires Chef training or culinary management certificate/diploma, or Certificate of Qualification as a Cook, or post-secondary diploma/degree in food and nutrition; Red Seal certification preferred. Current Food Handler’s Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain) are required. Part-time hours (10AM–6PM) with opportunities for growth within Extendicare’s Canadian network.
Required Qualifications
- Chef training or culinary management certificate or diploma from a program that meets the requirements of the OLTCH Act, or Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting the requirements of the OLTCH Act, or Post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food and nutrition
- Red Seal certification preferred
- Current Food Handler`s Certificate
- Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or willingness to obtain one
- Ability to maintain records and ensure food safety and quality
- Reviews regular and therapeutic menus and sets up equipment and supplies for food preparation
- Directs Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and in serving activities at mealtimes
- Assumes responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Dietary Manager
- Casual part-time scheduling 10AM-6PM
