Job Summary
Prepare and deliver all foods for residents, guests, and employees by reviewing menus, adhering to production charts, and serving meals attractively within set schedules. Ensure proper food handling, complete daily temperature audits, and prepare therapeutic diets according to planned menus while making necessary substitutions. Comply with provincial regulations, health and safety procedures, and departmental policies while participating in quality improvement programs and special occasion meal planning. Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults under the supervision of the Culinary Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate
- Must have experience in large quantity food preparation
- Must be knowledgeable of the Provincial Food Premises Regulation
- Must have knowledge of and experience with special and therapeutic diets
- Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for majority of shift
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
Desired Qualifications
- Red Seal Certificate preferred
- Must have experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in a healthcare or retirement setting
- Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
