Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Culinary Services, the Cook prepares and serves meals that meet nutritional and safety standards while ensuring resident satisfaction. This role supports culinary operations and dining services while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Responsibilities include preparing meals according to approved menus and dietary requirements, ensuring food is safely stored, cooked, and served at proper temperatures, maintaining a clean kitchen and equipment, assisting in training culinary staff, monitoring resident preferences, upholding food safety compliance, fostering teamwork, reporting elder maltreatment as required, and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year of food service experience required; three years preferred
- Food Handler’s Permit (as required by state)
- First Aid certification required
- Must be 18 years or older
- Compassion for and desire to work with older adults
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure
