Job Summary
Prepare and cook a variety of food for residents, families, and visitors according to established menus and standardized recipes. Oversee culinary assistants and coordinate kitchen operations while ensuring proper food handling, sanitation, and safety protocols. Manage total kitchen operations by addressing situations per policy, cleaning equipment and storage areas daily, and preventing contamination. Respond promptly to resident and family requests, communicate effectively across language barriers, and maintain a dignified atmosphere. Report safety hazards immediately and comply with all emergency procedures, HIPAA regulations, and attendance policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to two years related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
