Job Summary
Conduct advanced food preparation for residents while adhering to special dietary guidelines and department standards. Monitor production quantities, portioning, and waste data daily, ensuring food safety and sanitation protocols are followed. Maintain kitchen and dining room cleanliness by washing dishes, disinfecting surfaces, and managing table settings. Guide dietary aides and assist staff in meal service, event preparation, and dishwashing operations. Plan work schedules to ensure timely food preparation and serve as designated person in charge during manager absences. This role supports Byron Manor's mission of providing exceptional, loving, and dignified care to its residents.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- One (1) year experience demonstrating the ability to cook a variety of foods in quantity with knowledge of seasoning and required cooking time involved
- One (1) year experience demonstrating the knowledge of care and use of cooking utensils/equipment
- Ability to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds (may ask for assistance) and move three (3) to four (4) feet
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and bend, stoop, and reach frequently
Desired Qualifications
- Three (3) years experience preparing food in an institutional setting
- Two (2) years experience providing leadership through instruction and by example
- Vocational Training
- ServSafe certification
