Job Summary

Prepare high-quality, nutritious meals with excellent presentation according to recipes and menu standards. Cut, trim, bone meats and poultry, carve, and serve sauces, vegetables, soups, and other foods while portioning cooked items and instructing staff on garnishing. Clean, sanitize kitchen equipment and dining rooms, maintain proper food storage and handling, and ensure all drinking containers are labeled. Receive and examine food supplies to meet established quality and quantity specifications, and complete dietary cards for all residents and guests at every meal. Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities, adhere to Federal and State long-term care regulations, and follow defined safety codes and fire/disaster plans. Perform other duties as directed by the Executive Chef or Culinary Team Leader.

Required Qualifications

Must successfully clear a background check, TB skin test or x-ray, and health screening
Current CPR certification
Current certificate of training for successful completion of the five (5) hour initial fire safety training provided by the Rules and Regulations of the Georgia Safety Fire Commissioner
Ability to lift and/or carry 50 to 75 pounds
Ability to withstand exposure to temperature and humidity changes
Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the working day
Ability to reach, stoop, bend, lift, carry, and manipulate various food products, dietary supplies and kitchen equipment
Ability to work evenings, weekends and flexible hours when necessary to meet the needs of our residents
Ability to work semi-independently
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, policies and employee manuals
Ability to speak effectively in front of others
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations
Attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to work rapidly for long periods
Adequate hearing and vision (with or without correction)
Ability to follow defined safety codes while performing all duties
Ability to understand facility's fire and disaster plans
