Job Summary
Prepare, bake and serve a variety of foods in quantity at a school site; assist in other food preparation duties as directed; maintain facilities in a clean and sanitary condition; train and provide work direction to others. Responsibilities include preparing baked goods (rolls, biscuits, breads, cakes, cookies), cooking meat dishes and vegetables, following recipes, adjusting quantities, ensuring food safety and proper temperatures, serving meals, handling cash, cleaning and maintaining equipment, inventory records, and supporting special events. Requires ability to lift up to 25 pounds, follow written and oral directions, communicate effectively, and comply with health and sanitation regulations; position involves assisting and directing others and maintaining professional appearance within the school food service environment.
Required Qualifications
- Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma, G.E.D Certificate as required by Kentucky law and one year experience in cooking and baking food in large quantities. Cook/Bakers must complete training course for certification of beginning school food personnel as prescribed in 702 KAR 6:045.
