Job Summary
Prepare, cook, bake and serve a variety of foods in quantity at a school site; assist in other food preparation duties; maintain facilities in a clean, sanitary condition; train and provide work direction to others. Responsibilities include producing baked goods (rolls, biscuits, breads, cakes, cookies), cooking meat dishes and vegetables, adjusting recipes for quantities, ensuring food safety and sanitation, serving meals, handling cash during serving, inventory and record-keeping, assisting with special events, and supervising and training other staff. Requires knowledge of quantity food service preparation, sanitation, health/safety regulations, proper substitutions, and basic math/cashier skills. Must follow health and safety regulations, operate standard kitchen equipment, and communicate effectively. Education/experience: high school diploma or GED (or equivalent) and one year experience in cooking and baking in large quantities; completion of required training for school food service personnel per Kentucky and federal guidelines.
