Job Summary
Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary requirements while ensuring consistency, quality, and proper portion control. Collaborate with the dietary team to support menu planning and meal preparation schedules, maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in accordance with food safety regulations. Properly store, label, and rotate food items to ensure freshness and compliance, monitor kitchen supplies, and assist with inventory management and ordering. Follow all infection control, sanitation, and safety procedures, and assist with special events, holiday meals, and other dining services as needed. Work mostly daytime hours with some evenings required, with every other weekend availability mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare, assisted living, or senior living environment
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Every other weekend availability is required
- Mostly daytime hours; some evenings may be required
- Excellent cooking skills with strong attention to detail
- Thorough understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Dependable, team-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional service to residents
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with seniors or individuals with specialized dietary needs
- Experience with menu planning and inventory management
- ServSafe Certification (preferred)
