Job Summary
Prepares and serves nutritional and attractive meals for a 42-bed residential facility under general supervision of the Resident Manager, addressing special diets and keeping costs in line with budget. Duties include following established food service procedures, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, rotating stock, reporting equipment needs, and ensuring compliance with federal/state/local and Salvation Army food service regulations. Responsibilities also include assisting other kitchen personnel, completing Relias Training, attending staff meetings, and providing excellent customer service. Required skills include trauma-informed care, effective communication across diverse backgrounds, ability to multitask, and leadership in the absence of supervision. Must have 2 years of cooking experience (one in an institutional setting), a Food Handlers Card, and Serv-Safe certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Two (2) years’ experience as a cook, one of which must have been in an institutional setting
- Must possess or obtain a Food Handlers Card within 30 days of hire and be Serv-Safe certified
