Job Summary
Assist with the preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch, snacks, and other approved meal services while following standardized recipes and USDA, CACFP, and National School Lunch Program requirements. Receive, inspect, and properly store food and kitchen supplies; maintain accurate production, temperature, and inventory records. Operate kitchen equipment safely, wash dishes and utensils, and ensure cleanliness of all kitchen areas. Follow all food safety, sanitation, health department, and ITAV policies and procedures while working collaboratively with kitchen staff, school leadership, and other departments. Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors. Support special school events requiring food preparation or service as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Illinois Food Managers License
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced kitchen environments
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, school cafeteria, restaurant, or institutional food service
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow recipes, written instructions, and production schedules
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
