Job Summary
Assist with the preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch, snacks, and other approved meal services while following standardized recipes and USDA, CACFP, and National School Lunch Program requirements. Receive, inspect, and store food supplies; maintain accurate production, temperature, and inventory records; and operate kitchen equipment safely. Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans; ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, serving areas, and storage rooms; and support special school events as needed. Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and school leadership to provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Illinois Food Managers License
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced kitchen environments
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, school cafeteria, restaurant, or institutional food service
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow recipes, written instructions, and production schedules
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
