Job Summary
Assist the Cook with meal preparation for residents, ensuring nutrition and safety per planned menus and regulations. Help inventory and store incoming food and supplies, move stock, direct residents at residential sites in meal preparation, and participate in donations pickup from food banks. Prepare for inspections, train residents in safe food handling, maintain temperature controls and proper food rotation, and perform related administrative tasks (forms/reports). Travel to purchase food and gather donations as needed. Maintain a clean, safe kitchen and interact professionally with clients and staff while aligning with CODA’s mission and values, including data-driven decision making, financial responsibility, and compassionate service. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, health-care food-prep experience, Oregon Food Handler’s card, BLS (or ability to obtain within 90 days), and valid Oregon/Washington driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Prior work experience in menu planning and food preparation for large groups of people in a health-care environment
- Oregon Food Handler’s card
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire
- A valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license
Additional Requirements
- An acceptable criminal record as determined by DHS, the Oregon Administrative Rules, and the Oregon Revised Statutes; and no current supervised parole or probation.
- An acceptable driving record and the recommended amount of personal automobile insurance as determined by CODA’s automobile insurance provider.
