Job Summary
Prepare nutritious, high-quality meals while gaining an understanding of residents' dietary needs, preferences, and cultural considerations. Contribute to creating enjoyable dining experiences that support residents' health and well-being by following recipes, production sheets, and menu guidelines. Monitor quality of food supplies received, advise the team leader of problems, and make recommendations about corrective action. In the absence of the team leader, assume responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes, requisitions, and purchasing food and other supplies from authorized suppliers. Work 75 hours bi-weekly in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 minimum education
- A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
- Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
- Legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
- Successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
