Job Summary

Cook at Alaska Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center to prepare and serve meals, oversee food service operation, maintain inventory and ensure a clean, safe kitchen and dining environment. Responsibilities include following menu cycles, preparing and serving food to residents within scheduled timeframes, directing food service and dining functions, monitoring food quality, coordinating kitchen coverage with the Residence Director, restocking shelves, reporting issues, and ensuring adherence to health requirements and state regulations. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, English literacy, and a Food Handler’s card where required; CPR/First Aid certifications as required. Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime; competency in knowledge of specialty diets and textures; positive communication with residents and staff.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime
  • Maintains CPR and/or First Aid Certification as required by State regulations
  • Knowledge of specialty diets and textures
  • Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees
  • Has compassion and special interest in working with the senior population
