Job Summary
Cook role at Round Rock senior living community focusing on preparing meals for Residents per the daily menu within scheduled timeframes, supervising servers in the absence of the Food & Beverage Director, ensuring dietary standards and safety practices, and maintaining clean, safe kitchen operations. The role requires Serv Safe Certification, ability to work with seniors’ dietary needs, reading/writing English, lifting 40-50 pounds, standing for long periods, and working in a hot/humid environment. The candidate should be skilled with kitchen equipment (ovens, slicers, mixers, steam tables, steamers, toasters, refrigerators, freezers) and able to train others in food preparation and service while adhering to facility policies and safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Serv Safe Certification required
- Working knowledge of health and safety in food preparation
- Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures in accordance with state guidelines
- Knowledge of various cuts of meat and seasonings
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Experienced in dealing with seniors and their dietary needs
- Ability to cook large quantities and deliver a superior product
- Ability to guide and instruct others in food preparation and serving
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor under stress
