Job Summary
Cook at Aurora Psychiatric Hospital responsible for reviewing production sheets and recipes, preparing food according to guidelines, and maintaining production records. Prepares soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, casseroles, meats and vegetables per recipes, using a range of kitchen equipment. Maintains proper storage and rotation of inventories, monitors food temperatures, follows safe food-handling procedures, and maintains temperature logs. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served and adapts recipes to dietary restrictions as needed. The role supports cost control through small-batch prep and waste reduction, and includes participation in the hospital’s total rewards programs and benefits. Hours are full-time (40 per week) with mornings, every other weekend, and 3 holidays per year.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure/Registration/Certification: ServSafe Food Handler certification to be obtained within 1 year
- Education: High School Graduate (or equivalent knowledge)
- Experience: Typically requires 3 years of experience in food production in settings such as a hotel, restaurant or high end institutional environment.
