Job Summary
The Cook prepares and serves meals per planned menus using standardized portions and substitutions, ensures meals are served on schedule, handles all cleanup duties, maintains kitchen sanitation per schedules, accounts for meals for residents, staff, and guests, accommodates resident food preferences, and reports kitchen concerns to leadership. Requires ability to prepare a wide range of foods, adhere to health and safety regulations, organize tasks with minimal supervision, and lift up to 30 pounds regularly with occasional heavier lifting. High school diploma or GED is required; 2+ years cooking for large groups and experience with special diets are preferred. This role is based in Midland, TX and involves on-site kitchen duties.
Required Qualifications
- Must demonstrate successful employment as a cook
- Must be able to prepare and serve a wide range of foods skillfully
- Must be able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds, to occasionally lift more than 50 pounds, and to spend long periods of time standing
- Must have a working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation
- Must be able to organize and use time appropriately to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision
- Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required
- Two or more years of experience cooking for large groups preferred
- Experience preparing special diets preferred, including low sodium, low cholesterol, diabetic, and vegetarian
