Job Summary
Prepare and serve nutritious meals using standardized portions and approved substitutions while ensuring resident food preferences are met. Maintain kitchen cleanliness by completing post-service clean-up duties and adhering to sanitation checklists. Account for all resident, staff, and guest meals according to established procedures and report any departmental issues to the Director of Food Service. Requires successful prior cook employment, ability to lift up to 30 pounds, and knowledge of health and safety regulations. High School Diploma or GED required with two years of large group cooking experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Must demonstrate successful employment as a cook
- Must be able to prepare and serve a wide range of foods skillfully
- Must be able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds, to occasionally lift more than 50 pounds, and to spend long periods of time standing
- Must have a working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation
- Must be able to organize and use time appropriately to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision
- High School Diploma or GED required
Desired Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience cooking for large groups preferred
- Experience preparing special diets preferred, including low sodium, low cholesterol, diabetic, and vegetarian
