Job Summary
Assist in the preparation of hot and cold food menu items following standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines while accurately determining quantities and adhering to portion control. Satisfactorily perform safety and sanitation practices, maintain equipment and storage areas in sanitary conditions, and clean dishes and large equipment per rotation. Politely serve students, staff, and parents while reporting equipment malfunctions to the lead cook. Maintain high personal hygiene standards, communicate effectively with students and co-workers, and attend all mandated training. Inform the lead cook immediately of absences and enter records into Skyward within one day. Work four hours daily under the direction of the Building Principal, Food Service Supervisor, and Lead Cook.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Food handler certification as required by the Illinois Department of Health
- Demonstrated aptitude and/or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Ability to perform basic math, read and follow instructions and understand multi-step written & oral instructions
- Ability to work well under pressure/deadlines and demonstrate cooperative behavior with co-workers & supervisors
- Maintain high standard of personal hygiene
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written)
- Ability to direct students
- Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, students, and parents/community members
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- Ability to multi-task
- Regular & dependable work attendance
- Ability to use Skyward and e-mail
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
