Job Summary
COO role overseeing non-legal operations for a Personal Injury/Toxic Tort law firm in Chicago, IL, onsite 3-4 days per week. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations across non-legal departments, partnering with firm leadership on financial management, staffing, and long-term planning, refining firm-wide procedures and workflows, ensuring cross-department coordination as caseload and headcount grow, and supporting hiring, onboarding, and organizational structure. The role involves collaboration with finance, HR, and IT, with potential for future direct reports. Local to Chicago and onsite presence is required. Plaintiff-side experience is preferred but not required; not required to be an attorney or paralegal.
Required Qualifications
- Experience running operations or serving in a senior leadership role at a law firm
- Strong process-improvement and change-management skills
- Ability to bring clarity, structure, and strategic oversight to a fast-growing practice
- Local to Chicago and comfortable being onsite regularly
- Plaintiff-side experience preferred but not required
