Job Summary
Lead as Chief Operating Officer for a NYC-based construction firm, overseeing all operational phases from feasibility and pre-construction through procurement, field operations, project management, and close-out. Drive schedules, budgets, quality control, safety compliance, and performance standards across office and field teams. Manage subcontractor and vendor relations, including bidding, contract negotiation, procurement, and value engineering. Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and regulatory agencies to resolve field issues and optimize workflows, ensuring consistency across systems and processes. Requires deep NYC construction knowledge (DOB processes, permitting, zoning, safety standards, urban logistics), expert leadership, financial acumen (budgets, forecasting, cost controls), and proficiency with construction management platforms and digital reporting.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in NYC commercial and/or residential construction with direct oversight of ground-up or major renovation projects from pre-construction through close-out
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
- Demonstrated success in procurement, subcontractor management, scheduling, risk management, and operational oversight
- Proven ability to manage large teams, maintain accountability, and uphold high standards of quality and professionalism
- Strong communication skills and the ability to represent the company with clients, consultants, lenders, and agencies
