Converting Utility -2nd Shift

Job Summary
Operate assigned converting equipment safely and to production standard, including flexo folder gluers, die cutters, bundler, and stitcher. Set up machines at shift start by confirming dies, plates, scores, and glue settings, then complete first-piece verification on every order before advancing to full production. Inspect in-process product for dimensions, registration, and glue integrity, stopping runs immediately if out of spec and initiating quality holds per SOP. Log all downtime events with correct reason codes and attempt operator-level troubleshooting before escalating mechanical or electrical issues to the Lead. Transition between equipment assignments within or across shifts as directed, maintaining a clean, organized work area and adhering to LOTO procedures and PPE requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to learn and operate multiple types of converting equipment through structured on-the-job training
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, print layouts, and material/order specifications
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Demonstrated attention to detail in a production or manufacturing environment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete required documentation accurately
- High School/ GED diploma
- Prior experience operating converting equipment — flexo folder gluers, die cutters, bundler, or stitcher — in a corrugated or packaging environment
- Familiarity with quality inspection, LOTO procedures, and 5S housekeeping standards
- Prior experience in a utility, cross-trained, or float operator role
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Bilingual in Mandarin
- Frequent handling and positioning of rotary dies — team lift required above 50 lbs.
- Standing and working at machine height for full shift duration (8–12 hours)
- Required PPE: steel-toed boots, safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves during all die handling, hearing protection in designated areas
- Must be available for 2nd shift 2PM- 10PM
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish — strong preference given the composition of the production workforce
- Bilingual in Mandarin a plus
