Controls Technician Manager

Job Summary
Lead and scale a Controls Technicians team in a brand-new Provo manufacturing facility, setting strategic direction for reliability and optimization of robotics and automation systems. Direct departmental KPIs, manage budgeting and safety programs, and partner with Engineering and Operations to drive data-driven maintenance initiatives, vendor negotiations, and commissioning of new capital equipment. Provide high-level guidance on complex diagnostics (PLC, SCADA, networks, robotics), establish a comprehensive PM/PdM program via CMMS, champion safety (OSHA, PPE, LOTO), and ensure accurate documentation of calibrations, inspections, and repair histories. exceptional executive-level communication to translate technical data into actionable insights for senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years in industrial controls, automation engineering, or manufacturing maintenance
- at least 4 years in a direct management or senior leadership capacity
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent Journeyman Electrician license)
- high-level proficiency in PLC programming/troubleshooting (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
- SCADA interfaces, variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- ability to read, interpret, and red-line complex electrical, pneumatic, and P&ID drawings
- experience with CMMS to track assets, analyze downtime data, and optimize labor allocation
- strong communication skills; ability to translate technical data for senior leadership
