Job Summary
Controls Technician for Data Center Facilities in Buffalo, NY responsible for programming, integration, commissioning, maintenance, and emergency support of building automation systems (BMS/BAS/EPMS) in a live, mission-critical data center environment. Will troubleshoot, install and upgrade automation systems for power and cooling, participate in startup/commissioning/validation, collaborate with Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Software Development, Project Managers, Contractors and Vendors to ensure reliability and acceptance of installations, and perform QA/QC of hardware and software. Role includes leading installation teams, developing process documentation and training materials, coordinating with design/construction teams, and contributing to continuous improvement of Critical Environments programs. Must have strong facility automation skills, experience with BAS/BMS/EPMS platforms, and ability to interpret drawings and specifications; willingness to work nights and weekends; and proficiency with MS Office and related tools.
Required Qualifications
- Critical Facilities / Data Center experience
- Experience with Honeywell, StruxWare, or Allerton highly preferred
- Distech Controls and Tridium Niagara BAS Platforms a plus
- Preferably 3-8+ years experience with BMS /BAS Controls
- Previous experience working on Controls Products from companies such as: Johnson Controls / JCI ; Siemens ; Automated Logic ; Honeywell ; GE Control Systems ; Schneider Electric ; Rockwell Automation
- PLC / ALC Experience
- Experience with critical HVAC equipment (Chillers, Air Handlers, CRAC / CRAH units, Boilers, etc.)
- Requires knowledge of equipment manufacturer’s specifications
- Ability to interpret AE construction drawings, BAS shop drawings, manufacturers wiring diagrams, one-lines, blueprints, CAD Drawings, Control Diagrams, standards documentation, submittals and product data sheets
- Ability to follow company and site safety requirements
- Must be able to complete Field Service Reports and Assignments accurately and within a timely manner
- Analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence
- Candidate must be willing to work nights & weekends when necessary
- MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus (Navy nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)
- Requires excellent verbal, written communication skills & customer relation skills
- Ability to work independently and resourceful with good initiatives
- Ability to successfully work independently; Self Starter and should prioritize well
- Proactive, resourceful, delegator and a multitasker
