Job Summary
Controls Systems Technician at Johnson Controls: perform system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools, troubleshoot basic HVAC mechanical/electrical/controls problems, respond to warranty calls, load system-level controller software, perform commissioning and diagnostics from controllers to end devices (sensors/actuators), complete required documentation, calibrate systems, communicate progress with customers and contractors, provide recommendations and quotes to improve facility efficiency, and uphold safety standards. Requires vocational/associate degree in electronics/mechanical systems or related field with 1–3+ years of HVAC controls experience; involves on-site work, documentation, and potential upsell opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Vocational School four year program or an Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field
- plus three years of industry experience or 1 year experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry
- Knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls professionally
- Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people
- Leadership skills to support mechanics on non-complex, non-critical Building Automation equipment
- PC experience and ability to program HVAC related software
