Job Summary

Controls Specialist at Clarios in Toledo, Ohio responsible for continuous improvement of plant processes and equipment including design and PLC program changes, mechanical and electrical documentation, Six Sigma variation reduction, uptime improvements, and maintenance expense reduction. Uses problem solving techniques (Pareto, cause-and-effect, multi-variable analysis, FMEA, DOE) to develop solutions, initiates and leads plant teams in process improvements, provides technical support for operations including maintenance and capital projects, liaisons between plant and division engineering, monitors performance of new equipment and tools, implements capital and non-capital projects, and collaborates with quality control and manufacturing to ensure processes meet specifications. Reviews new/modified specifications for proper content and schedules introductions, identifies causes of downtime and develops strategies to eliminate recurrence, and supports Six Sigma project rollout. Describes the role within a large battery-manufacturing facility operated by Clarios, highlighting teamwork, continuous improvement, and engineering documentation responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with PLC programming and ladder logic
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Solidworks, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related programs
