Job Summary
Design and build electrical control systems for automation cells in the plastics injection molding industry by drafting schematics, sizing servo drives, and programming PLCs and HMIs. Collaborate with Quoting, Mechanical Design, Procurement, and Service teams to develop control, power distribution, and I/O panels while adhering to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and Industrial Robot Safety requirements. Participate in design reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers. Some travel may be required. Join an accelerated training program focused on motion control, PLC/HMI programming, and safety standards within a new 13,000 sq. ft. facility dedicated to IML and robotics engineering.
Required Qualifications
- Post-Secondary education Completion of College or University in Electrical Engineering/Design including Mechatronics, Industrial, and Electromechanical disciplines
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Controls Specialist
- Proven knowledge of industrial automation and control systems
- Thorough understanding of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and Industrial Robot Safety requirements
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Decision Making: Utilizing an effective process to make decisions
- Teamwork: Working effectively with others
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem solving aptitude. Attention to detail
- Interpersonal Skills: Effectively communicating, building rapport and relating well to people. Frequently able to speak with customers
- Versatility: The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience with B&R controls platform is a asset
- Experience with STL based PLC programming is an asset
- In Mold Labelling knowledge is an asset
- Fluency in Spanish is an asset
- SolidWorks Electrical is an asset
- AutoCad 2D is an asset
