Job Summary
Provide remote and onsite support of high level and complex automation systems, develop and maintain standardized code for multiple implementations, and oversee multiple controls projects to ensure financial and timely deployment. Key skills include extensive experience with Siemens and Rockwell software, PLC programming languages, and application knowledge in warehouse distribution systems. Candidates should have 10+ years of industrial experience, a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, and the ability to create and debug complex controls designs.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science /or equivalent experience in the field of electrical/controls engineering
- 10+ years industrial experience with sound knowledge of Swisslog’s standard programming platforms
- Extensive experience with Siemens Step 7 Classic, TIA Portal, and Rockwell programming software
- Extensive experience with PLC programming languages such as ladder, FBD, STL, and SCL
- Prior experience leading controls teams on new or retrofit projects
- Knowledgeable on PLC and HMI programming best practices
- Application knowledge of warehouse distribution systems (pallet or tote conveyor, storage and retrieval machines, monorail systems, etc)
- Practical experience of electrical / controls engineering & electrical installations
- Ability to create controls designs from scratch as well as debug existing PLC code complex issues
- Excellent word processing and spreadsheet skills
- Shows ownership and pride in craftsmanship/projects
- Knowledge of electrical/mechanical standard and best practices
- Familiarity mentoring junior members
Desired Qualifications
- MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- Siemens or Allen Bradley programming certifications
- Siemens Certified Programmer - SIMATIC S7 with STEP7 v5
- Siemens Certified Programmer - SIMATIC S7 with TIA Portal
- Experience with Industrial Ethernet and modern field buses (PROFIBUS, ASi, DeviceNET, etc)
- Experience with the following VFD OEMs: SEW, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, or Kuka
- EPLAN or AutoCAD-E familiarity or experience
- Experience with industrial Wireless networks, protocols, and devices
