Job Summary
Install building automation systems by interpreting control drawings, plans, and specifications to set up temperature control systems including conduit, enclosures, wiring, and end devices. Coordinate on-site work, gather materials, and inspect building layouts to anticipate difficulties while maintaining assigned inventory and equipment. Document daily time, progress, and duration on each job, and turn in all required paperwork and reports in a timely manner. Diagnose and repair equipment at customer locations to ensure satisfaction, and inspect and maintain company vehicles and tools. Travel regularly with occasional overnight stays, working overtime and weeks as business requires.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months
- No major or frequent traffic violations including DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years
- At least 2-5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software
- Working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)
- Knowledge of low voltage electricity
- Knowledge of electronics (board level troubleshooting)
- Knowledge of direct digital controls
- Knowledge of building control techniques
- Ability to interpret control drawings, plans, and specifications
- Ability to install temperature control systems including conduit, enclosures, wiring and end devices
- Ability to examine building layout, anticipate difficulties, gather materials and coordinate on-site work
- Ability to coordinate with other trades
- Ability to maintain assigned stock of inventory, company equipment, and documents
- Ability to complete paperwork on each job including daily time, progress, and duration
- Ability to maintain files
- Ability to turn in all required paperwork and reports in a timely manner
- Ability to serve as the direct customer contact
- Ability to identify, analyze, diagnose and repair equipment and systems at customer's location
- Ability to keep current on Trane products concerning installation of direct digital control systems
- Ability to check vehicle condition and literature supplies
- Ability to keep records of service manuals, scheduling, completed repairs and maintenance service
- Ability to inspect tools and equipment for signs of wear
- Ability to enforce safety to the highest standards
- Ability to maintain security and accountability of company issued and procured assets
- Ability to record use, wear and conditions of assets
- Ability to work overtime and weeks as the business requires
- Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
Desired Qualifications
- Technical School or formal training
- Previous experience with DDC controls system
