Job Summary
Lead the Controls Engineering team supporting a 24/7 manufacturing operation by developing tools to reduce unscheduled downtime and improving process reliability. Oversee automation standards, PLC and SCADA programming, historian systems, and industrial networking while administering the plant-wide PI Historian system. Provide troubleshooting support for ongoing operations, including callouts and remote diagnostics, and lead controls engineering activities for capital projects. Ensure process controls infrastructure meets site and regulatory requirements and manage automation capital project budgets. Work under the direction of the Facilities Engineering Manager with on-call support required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or Automation Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Minimum of 10 years of industrial controls engineering experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
- Experience in chemical manufacturing
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience managing engineering teams
- Strong project management and capital project execution experience
- In-depth, hands-on knowledge and experience with complex instrumentation and controls systems
- Thorough understanding of Foundation Field Bus protocol systems and infrastructure
- Experience with design and deployment of SCADA systems architecture
- Solid background in controls systems troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Expert knowledge and experience to provide technical guidance in support of operational objectives
- On-call support
- Occasional after-hours and weekend work during production outages, maintenance activities, and capital project commissioning
