Job Summary
Controls Engineer at WM in Austin, TX responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems (logic software/hardware), PLC programming, instrumentation, checkout/start-up support, and system documentation. Lead design reviews with customers, perform site start-ups, train customers, and act as technical lead and project manager on projects up to $500k. Requires experience with SCADA and PLC systems (Rockwell, Siemens, Allen Bradley), AutoCAD, DeltaV, and related instrumentation, with travel up to 35%. Hybrid in-office/on-site role at Austin, TX.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Engineering required (Electrical Engineering preferred)
- 3-8 years experience in control systems
- Experience with SCADA (Rockwell, Inductive Automation, AVEVA Wonderware) and PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens)
- Experience with DeltaV, AutoCAD, Fanuc, Keyence/Cognex Vision Systems desired
- Travel up to 35%
- Strong inter-personnel skills and ability to work with team members, subcontractors and clients
- Ability to travel up to 35%
- Will act as technical lead on projects and guide lower level engineers and technicians
- Will act as Project Manager on projects up to $500k
- Develops and executes implementation plans
- Develops schedules, evaluates progress, and manages changes
- Responsible for purchasing and subcontractor requirements
- Develops costs and proposals for change orders
- Education BS in Engineering Required (Electrical Engineering is preferred)
