Job Summary

Lead new process improvement recommendations, designs, and critical troubleshooting for manufacturing equipment across Transportation locations. Take ownership of automation aspects, gather process data for optimization, and develop upgrade plans rolled out to all similar units. Design custom control panels using AutoCAD Electrical, create complete drawing packages, and build SCADA and MES solutions to drive strategic process improvements. Isolate critical data outputs to define key performance indicators while improving uptime and production speed. Foster strong relationships with operations teams and vendors, taking a hands-on approach to modifications and training others on new changes.

Required Qualifications

  • BS or greater in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or STEM-related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in process or manufacturing engineering
  • Proven record of successfully operating independently with little or no direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze processes looking for improvements in efficiency as well as product quality, layout of equipment, workflow, and safety
  • Experience developing training and technical documents to present and/or instruct others on new process changes or machine modifications
  • Proven experience with any of the following PLCs: Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens, AutomationDirect, Mitsubishi, Omron, Aromat, or Toshiba
  • Experience with all Rockwell software packages, including but not limited to RS Logix 5, 500, and 5000, Factory Talk view designer, RS Networks, Panelbuilder, kepserver, and related communications packages
  • Experience in HMI and/or Operator Interface programming and configuration of any of the following software packages: Ignition, Wonderware, Intellution, Factory Talk View, GE Cimplicity, Ci-Tech, Iconics, Siemens, or US Data
  • Familiar with motion controls systems, servos, and modern sensor types and uses
  • Familiar with industrial networking technologies, including Ethernet/IP, Controlnet, and Devicenet
  • Familiar with all aspects of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic machine systems (power sources, energy control, motion devices)
  • Proficient with CAD drawing packages and able to create packages from scratch
  • Must be able to see, hear and speak
  • Must be able to sit, stand for at least two hours at a time
  • Must be able to sit, bend, crawl, squat, kneel and climb
  • Must be able to use both arms and hands to use a computer and peripherals
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds from floor level
  • Must be able to work below ground level in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work on stationary or mobile elevated platforms
  • Must be able to wear respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Must be able to climb stairs
  • Travel may be required for this position, but not more than 25%

Desired Qualifications

  • Allen Bradley PLC experience
  • Six sigma certification
