Job Summary
Controls Engineer responsible for end-to-end automation solutions including design, programming, integration, and commissioning of industrial control systems. Leads or contributes to system design, programming, and commissioning; mentors junior engineers and may manage smaller projects. Works directly with clients to define requirements and deliver tailored automation solutions. Utilizes Ignition, GE Cimplicity, and MES/ERP integrations; designs system architecture, electrical schematics, and documentation; programs with Ladder Logic, Structured Text, SFC; configures networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus); leverages Rockwell, Siemens, Wonderware, GE, ICONICS platforms; supports data visualization with Power BI, Grafana, and APIs; travel up to 30% and work in both office and industrial environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- 6+ years of experience in automation/controls engineering
- Experience with Ignition, GE Cimplicity, and integration with MES/ERP systems
- Design and implement industrial control systems (PLC, DCS, RTU, HMI, SCADA)
- Program using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, SFC, and languages such as SQL, .NET, VBA
- Configure industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)
- Lead projects and mentor junior engineers; customer-facing
- Proficiency with Rockwell, Siemens, Wonderware, GE, ICONICS platforms
- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (Power BI, Grafana, APIs)
- Travel up to 30% and work in office/industrial environments
- Preferred industries: Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, material handling
