Controls Engineer

Job Summary
Develops, maintains, and audits controls and automation systems for Reading Truck Group operations. Leads project management of controls and automation initiatives, including designing, specifying, testing, and maintaining records to optimize manufacturing processes with emphasis on safety, quality, and efficiency. Improves existing controls/automation systems, collaborates with IT to reduce labor and costs, and advances robotics-enabled manufacturing across locations. Works with maintenance and outside contractors to implement new controls, enhance performance, and minimize downtime; actively supports lean initiatives and daily production activities; tracks and communicates progress and outcomes to leadership. Requires strong proficiency with PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotics (Fanuc preferred), Ethernet/IP/Modbus networking, electrical schematics and AutoCAD, and excellent organizational, documentation, and project management skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in controls and automation specification, design, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Experience programming PLC logic, HMI, and SCADA systems is required
