Job Summary
Design and develop control systems for OptiCool's cooling solutions (two-phase rear-door systems) including hardware schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and development of PLC software for both R&D and commercialized products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, implement advanced control systems (PID, fault-tolerant, redundant, and self-learning), produce control narratives and interface control documents, and perform thorough testing/validation of PLC systems. Maintain and enhance control hardware/software libraries across the product lifecycle, support service and applications teams, and travel occasionally to supplier/customer sites for development and deployment. Knowledge of refrigerants, refrigeration components, or cooling systems is a strong plus; strong skills in CAD, PLC programming, and industrial protocols are required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of industry experience in system design and PLC programming development
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks Electrical preferred)
- Experience programming control systems; Allen-Bradley and Carel platforms highly desired
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages, such as ladder Logic and Structured Text
- Familiarity with Modbus, BACnet, SNMP industrial communication protocols
- Strong focus on design for manufacturability and serviceability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience in technical documentation and data analysis
- Knowledge of refrigerants, refrigeration components, or equipment-based cooling systems is a strong plus
