Controls Engineer- OFA

Job Summary
Controls Engineer, OFA leads the automation team in researching, testing, and analyzing system and process improvements to maximize production efficiency. Responsibilities include analyzing production processes, designing and implementing solutions, creating software architecture for embedded systems and industrial automation platforms, developing system architecture (software, hardware, communications, interfaces), planning preventive maintenance, defining performance metrics, providing electrical/mechanical/technical assistance, developing training for Okuma, distributors, and end-users, and documenting procedures. Requires PLC programming experience (Beckhoff, Codesys, AB, Siemens, IEC 61131-3), HMI/SCADA development, Windows/.NET (C#, WinForms, WPF) proficiency, CAD capabilities, and familiarity with ISO/OSHA/ANSI standards; travel up to 40% and willingness to work in office and customer-site environments. A four-year degree is suggested with 3-7 years of related engineering experience; strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are a must.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred
- 3-7 years of engineering experience in a related field
- PLC programming experience preferred
- Hands on experience working on robotics, automation, or other powered machinery preferred
