Job Summary
Controls Engineer to maintain and troubleshoot industrial automation systems (Siemens and AB PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, vision/barcode systems) and Fanuc robotics; develop, test, and implement control projects for manufacturing processes; mentor Automation Technicians and Maintenance Technicians; collaborate with maintenance and production teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions; ensure compliance with IATF16949 and customer standards; coordinate automation changes for new products and maintain system data and documentation. The role requires designing and developing control systems for process, utilities, and safety equipment, programming with Python and C++, and coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum of two years’ experience in industrial control systems in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of PLCs and single loop controllers; preferably Siemens and AB PLC systems, GE Fanuc, CompactLogix, Mitsubishi; knowledge of PLC/DCS configuration, design and development; assessment of machine control standards
- Experience with SCADA systems (Ignition, etc.), HMI, vision and barcode systems, Ethernet/IP, DevicNet, Profibus/Profinet
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python and C++
- Ability to interpret equipment drawings and specifications; ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Coordination with suppliers and cross-functional teams; project management responsibilities as required
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Understanding of IATF/TS16949 or equivalent customer standards
- Ability to mentor and train maintenance, manufacturing engineering, and production personnel
- Knowledge of testing, implementation, and validation of control projects
- Maintaining documentation and data related to control systems
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and workshops
