Job Summary
Controls Engineer III manages the design, tracking, and installation of systems and/or service installed jobs, including training of customers and employees, entering databases and programming, creating and installing new software, and troubleshooting. Responsibilities include 30% commissions/graphics for job sites; point-to-point checkout; verify operator sequences; set up trend information; schedule equipment; modify architectural drawings in AutoCAD; construct system graphics with relevant data blocks; assist with startup, certification, and project turnover; ensure quality; collect owner-signed documentation. 20% programming for computer-based systems; develop programs for AHUs to large boiler/chiller plants; calculate facility energy usage; optimize duct static pressure and temperature control. 20% updating project information; develop layouts, databases, submittals; generate RFIs; incorporate blueprints/specs; prepare system overview and as-built drawings; stay current with software. 15% assists with sales estimating; 15% provides customer service and technical support; delivers training; maintains professional client relations; presents a professional image. Education and ongoing development required; travel to job sites; overtime/weekend as needed; valid driver license; software experience including AutoCAD; Ethernet networking; Windows OS; strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering
- Minimum four years of experience in engineering systems and/or systems service
- Strong knowledge of automation systems, HVAC and electrical concepts and operations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other documents
- Proficient in AutoCAD drafting
- Proficient in Ethernet networking
- Proficient in Windows operating systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to prioritize and work to deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Valid driver license
