Job Summary
Analyze design requirements and develop electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, and bills of material (BOMs) to create cost-effective designs meeting performance and delivery expectations. Generate accurate documentation for manufacturing and field integration, while inspecting completed machinery for compliance with NEC, NFPA, UL, and other industry standards. Identify process improvements to reduce design errors, perform electrical rework on existing systems, and review peer hardware designs for accuracy and standardization. Select components aligned with safety requirements and budget constraints, utilizing ERP systems to manage work orders and material releases. This role supports machine builders with troubleshooting and technical questions, ensuring designs align with risk assessments and continuous improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in Controls Engineering
- Experience designing electrical panels and pneumatics
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering OR equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in automation or industrial machinery
- Strong experience with AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical for schematic development and panel design
- Proficiency in developing one-line diagrams, control schematics, and panel layouts
- Working knowledge of electrical and machinery standards, including: NFPA 79, NEC, UL 508A, ISO 12100 and related safety standards
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and 3D CAD models
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on reducing errors, minimizing rework, and improving overall design quality
- Practical understanding of component selection, panel layout, and real-world build considerations (not just theoretical design)
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with mechanical engineers, machine builders, and project teams
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
