Job Summary

Controls Engineer – Critical Facilities onsite at a Data Center in Omaha, NE. Lead automation design for complex data center / mission-critical facilities, designing controls and building automation systems (EPMS/BAS/DDC/BMS) for power and cooling, including front-end SCADA platforms, HMI/UI standards, and IT/OT integration. Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering teams to ensure reliability, acceptance of installations, and sustainable design. Responsibilities include leading automation design teams, defining standards, designing control panels, creating BOMs and SOPs/MOPs, mentoring engineers, reviewing project deliverables, developing UI/UX configuration standards, and delivering on scope, schedule, and budget. Qualifications include experience with EPMS/BAS/DDC, BACnet/Modbus/SNMP, Tridium Niagara, Distech and Honeywell systems, PLCs (Schneider, Allen-Bradley), Revit/AutoCAD, and strong communication skills. Travel up to 10% and onsite presence at the customer data center are required. We seek a candidate with a BS in Engineering (plus), and 3–5 years of AE/MEP design or systems integration experience; PE/EIT certifications are a plus.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or similar engineering degree a plus
  • 3-5 years AE / MEP Consulting Engineering design or Systems Integrator shop drawing design a must
  • Knowledge of IoT and smart building solutions
  • Knowledge of open-source protocols (BACnet, Modbus and SNMP)
  • Knowledge of DDC systems including Distech, Honeywell, and Tridium Niagara
  • Knowledge of PLC systems including Schneider Electric and Allen Bradley
  • Experience designing for complex data center / mission critical facilities
  • Revit or AutoCAD a plus
  • SQL databases for database management and queries
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and config: TCP/IP, VLANs, LANs, Switches, Routers, and RSTP
  • Experience working with common BAS and SCADA protocols BACnet IP, BACnet MSTP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, etc.
  • Skilled with best practices for Cybersecurity related to SCADA system
  • Travel: 10% / Minimal travel - meet the team, customer, etc.
