Job Summary
Controls Engineer – lead the design and implementation of automated building control solutions for data center and mission-critical facilities. Responsibilities include leading automation design teams, coordinating with Electrical/Mechanical engineering groups, creating standards from discovery, leading control-panel design (layout, control power, relay logic, wiring diagrams), drafting sequences of operations for MEP equipment, creating BOMs, mentoring engineers on software standards, designing and implementing Front end SCADA/DDC/PLC-based systems, leading BAS/EPMS design, developing configuration and UI/UX standards, preparing project deliverables (AE drawings, shop drawings, manuals), developing proposals with scope/schedule/budget, and coordinating with stakeholders. Requirements emphasize experience with data center automation, BAS/EPMS/DDC/SCADA, IoT and smart building solutions, open protocols (BACnet/Modbus/SNMP), and relevant PLC/DCS knowledge; candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in engineering (or similar), travel up to 10%, and strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or similar engineering degree (preferred)
- 3-5 years of AE/MEP Consulting Engineering design or Systems Integrator shop drawing design experience
- Experience designing for complex data center / mission critical facilities
- Revit or AutoCAD experience a plus
- Knowledge of IoT and smart building solutions
- Knowledge of open-source protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP)
- Knowledge of DDC systems including Distech, Honeywell, and Tridium Niagara
- Knowledge of PLC systems including Schneider Electric and Allen Bradley
- Knowledge of networking concepts and config: TCP/IP, VLANs, LANs, Switches, Routers, and RSTP
- Experience with BAS and SCADA protocols BACnet IP/MSTP, Modbus RTU/TCP
- MS Office Suite proficiency
- Travel: 10% / Minimal travel
