Job Summary
Analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical and controls problems in manufacturing operations while supporting the design and modification of electrical control circuits and controls programs. Perform engineering support on CNC equipment, automation systems, and robots using standard engineering software and hardware tools. Support technical problem solving with cross-functional teams to improve safety, quality, and throughput, and help implement new technology and process improvements in manufacturing. Contribute to resolution of equipment and process issues with increasing scope and complexity, and support and train skilled trades in controls-related troubleshooting and recovery. Assist with planning and execution of electrical and controls projects and support project installation activities with contractors and plant electricians. This off-shift position requires full-time onsite reporting to Tonawanda and willingness to work any shift as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field OR 4 years of equivalent technical experience
- 1+ years of experience in industrial controls, manufacturing automation, or related hands-on technical work
- Working knowledge of PLC and HMI programming
- Experience troubleshooting or supporting industrial electrical systems, drives, motors, servos, or VFDs
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, or Ethernet
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Must be willing to work any shift; off-shift support is required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting robotics, CNC, or automated manufacturing equipment
- Exposure to Siemens, Rockwell, Fanuc, or similar control platforms
- Familiarity with industrial vision systems such as Cognex, Keyence, or similar
- Experience with or exposure to Safety PLCs
- Experience reading electrical prints, troubleshooting controls hardware, and supporting plant-floor equipment improvements
