Job Summary
Controls Designer with a focus on building automation systems and direct digital controls for various building types. Responsible for hardware and software design activities, reviewing contract documents and submittals, creating installation and as-built drawings, developing advanced sequences of operations, and generating Operation and Maintenance Manuals. Supports project teams and may assist with cost estimates and field wiring/programming, startup, and commissioning. Requires familiarity with HVAC systems, BAS, and temperature controls; proficiency with drafting/design software; IT/network understanding; and a valid driver's license with the ability to travel to construction sites. Monday-Thursday onsite in Columbus, OH with flexible Friday location choices; opportunity to work with Trane Controls products and related third-party devices. Required Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology, or three (3) plus years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Familiarity with operation and design of HVAC Systems, Building Automation Systems, and/or Temperature Controls
- Familiarity with concepts of new construction and renovation/retrofit, performance contracting, and service project management preferred
- Experience with a drafting/ design program is required
- Understanding of industry standard protocol and requirements for integration preferred
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included
- Windows operating system and Microsoft Office product knowledge
- Some travel to construction sites within the district to determine controls solutions
