Job Summary
Install HVAC and building automation controls on new construction, remodeled, and service locations, including communication and control wiring in obscure areas like above ceiling grids, through walls, and in tight crawl spaces. Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and wiring diagrams to terminate wires for sensors and actuators using a wiring diagram. Bend conduit to fit applications and use a multi-meter while operating various electronic and diagnostic tools. Work primarily alone traveling to different sites daily, often in tight indoor spaces or outside in poor weather conditions. Willing to work after hours and weekends when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one-year technical certificate in HVAC or equivalent from an accredited institution
- 2 years of experience in an HVAC related field
- Aptitude for electrical wiring
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications for a project
- Ability to bend conduit to fit an application
- Ability to climb ladders and work at moderate heights (mostly between 20 and 30 feet)
- Capability of lifting equipment up to 75 pounds for a distance
- Willingness to work after hours and weekends when necessary
- Ability to use a multi-meter
- Desire and aptitude to eventually lead a crew
- Basic set of tools (screwdriver, drill, etc.)
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to drive a company vehicle when necessary
- Age of 21 years or older
- Ability to pass a drug screening test
- Physical ability to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and various other plumbing equipment
- Ability to stoop, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred: one-year technical certificate in HVAC or equivalent from an accredited institution or 2 years of experience in an HVAC related field
