Controls and Instrumentation Engineer - Flares

Job Summary

Execute Instrumentation & Control engineering activities across FEED, Basic, and Detail Engineering phases, preparing and validating P&IDs, deliverables, and procurement documents. Develop engineering outputs for PLC, BMS, ESD, and SCADA systems while coordinating interfaces with electrical and control teams. Participate in HAZOP, SIL, and process safety reviews to ensure compliance with IEC, ISA, API, and hazardous area standards. Manage vendor evaluations, technical bid assessments, and global project coordination to meet quality, schedule, and budget objectives. Mentor junior engineers and resolve technical queries within multidisciplinary teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or a related Engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of Instrumentation & Control Engineering experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, Chemical, EPC, or Process Industries

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working on international FEED and Detail Engineering projects
  • Strong expertise in Instrumentation & Control Engineering for process plants
  • Extensive experience in FEED and Detail Engineering deliverables
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing P&IDs and instrumentation documentation
  • Strong understanding of control systems including PLC, DCS, BMS, ESD, and SCADA architectures
  • Experience in instrumentation sizing and specification of field instruments including: Pressure Instruments, Temperature Instruments, Flow Instruments, Level Instruments, Control Valves, On-Off Valves, Analyzers
  • Working knowledge of hazardous area classifications and intrinsic safety requirements
  • Experience with vendor document review, procurement engineering, and technical bid evaluations
  • Exposure to HAZOP, SIL, and functional safety studies
  • Knowledge of international engineering standards including IEC, ISA, API, and NFPA
  • Oil & Gas industry experience
  • Petrochemical industry experience
  • Refining industry experience
  • Chemical Processing industry experience
  • EPC industry experience
  • Industrial Combustion Systems experience
  • Flare Systems experience
  • Thermal Oxidizers experience
  • Process Equipment Manufacturing experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple global engineering projects simultaneously
  • Strong cross-functional coordination and leadership capabilities
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to engineering quality and customer satisfaction
  • Self-driven, collaborative, and capable of working in multicultural global teams
