Job Summary
Controller will oversee the company’s financial activities, including monthly financials, WIP schedule, and analytics; responsible for payroll processing, vendor/subcontractor activity, cash management, and monthly closings, with heavy involvement in cost reporting, job data from payroll, and coordination with the CPA firm for financial statements and audits. Requires hands-on proficiency with Sage and QuickBooks, strong reporting mindset, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a construction-focused environment; requires at least 5 years of relevant experience and prior work with General Contractor and Sub Contractor entities. The role includes preparing budgets/forecasts, tax reporting (sales and payroll), insurance-related processing, and external communications with funding banks and brokers.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting/finance experience
- Experience with General Contractor and Sub Contractor environments
- Proficiency with Sage & QuickBooks
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes (federal/state/401K) and payroll reporting
- Experience with accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Ability to prepare and analyze cash projections, WIP schedules, and cost reports
- Experience coordinating with CPAs and external audits
- Knowledge of tax reporting (sales tax, payroll tax) and insurance-related reporting
- Experience with payroll services (e.g., Paychex) and employee benefits administration
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
