Job Summary
Strategic Controller role leading finance for a residential coatings company, reporting to ownership and scaling toward CFO. Responsibilities include owning the month-end close, general ledger integrity, and project-level P&L across multi-location operations; building models and performing trend analysis to identify risks, margin gaps, and growth opportunities; partnering with ownership to translate operational data into actionable insights; leading a small accounting/finance team; driving ERP/system improvements to automate reporting and create a CFO-ready infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- 3+ years as a Controller or senior accounting leader
- CPA strongly preferred
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and trend analysis skills
- Experience in a project-based, multi-location, or operationally complex environment
- Clear upward trajectory toward a CFO role
- People management experience
- ERP implementation or optimization experience (preferred)
- Job costing and project accounting background
- Multi-state operations experience
