Job Summary
Lead month-end and year-end closes, manage general ledger activity, and oversee AP, AR, payroll, billing, inventory, and cost accounting processes for multiple client organizations. Strengthen internal controls, improve reporting accuracy, and support ERP implementations while providing hands-on accounting leadership in construction environments. Partner with business owners to drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, ensuring compliance with GAAP and supporting audits and tax professionals. This role requires construction accounting expertise in job costing, project accounting, and revenue recognition, with a preference for experience across manufacturing, real estate, and other industries.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar senior accounting leader
- Construction industry accounting experience
- Experience with job costing, project accounting, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, or similar construction accounting functions
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and full cycle accounting
- Ability to quickly understand new businesses, systems, and accounting environments
- Comfortable working directly with business owners, executives, and accounting teams
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Hands on leadership style with the ability to work both strategically and in the details
- Candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Sacramento, CA
- Candidates should be comfortable traveling to client locations throughout the surrounding area as needed
