Job Summary
Oversee accounting and financial operations across client engagements, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with accounting principles. Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger review, and financial reporting. Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, forecasts, and analyses while providing practical guidance to business owners and leadership teams. Develop and implement accounting policies, internal controls, and financial processes; analyze performance trends to recommend improvements. Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and mentor accounting staff. Adapt to multiple client environments in the Reno market, staying current on standards and regulations. Transition from part-time to full-time as client engagements grow.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar senior level accounting professional
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, month end close, and internal controls
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
- Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple client engagements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with business owners, executives, and accounting teams
- Comfortable working in a consulting environment where priorities, industries, and client needs may vary
- The ideal candidate is based in Reno or within a reasonable commuting distance
- This position is expected to begin on a part time basis
Desired Qualifications
- CPA certification preferred but not required
- Experience within construction, manufacturing, or multiple industries strongly preferred
